A Better Reflection in Softimage XSI

This series will demonstrate how to achieve a realistic reflection that imitates real-life using the node based shading system in Softimage XSI. Usually these techniques are done in compositing by rendering different buffers and compositing them in a compositing app. This training videos will explore how you can achieve the same result inside a DCC app.

The techniques demonstrated here can be applied to any DCC app with a node based shading system.

Part 1 - Intro.

Part 2 - Scene Setup and Basic Concepts of Reflection.

We'll start off with a discussion of the scene setup and some concepts about reflection

Part 3 - Manipulating Textured Reflections.

The next step is to explore how texturing the glossy port of our shading system can achieve greater realisem.

Part 4 - Taking Full Control of Your Reflection Colors.

Learn how to gain complete controler of the reflected colors of your surfaces.

Part 5 - Blending Your Reflections as They Should be.

Learn how to blend your reflections on other surfaces as they do in real-life.

Part 6 - Reflection Based Color.

Next Learn how to use and control the Reflection Based Color that is found in the Architectural system.

Part 7 - Using Architectural Shader Multi Out Node.

We'll explore different shading models instead of using the Lambert shader as a basis for our material.
